ELCIN was established through the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM), formerly the Finnish Missionary Society (FMS) that came to plant the seed of Christianity in Namibia 1870. In 1954 the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) got her independence from the Finnish Society.
